Books & Company

Books & Company hosts two book groups open to the community.  The Evening Book Group meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m.  The Mystery Book Group meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m.

On March 11, we hosted a party for all our Book Groups. One lucky group won free copies of Mudbound, by Hillary Jordan, and worte the following review:

As a group of readers from the Midwest, "Mudbound," instantly captivated us.  We all found this book to be a "page turner."  Reading from the six different character perspectives was most enlightening and thought provoking.  Comparing and contrasting the parallel lives of the six voices allowed us to address the controversial themes of racism, sexual politics, infidelity and war.  Hillary Jordan's use of character profiles enables the reader to want to delve deeper into their lives.  Her character development allowed us to have a deep compassion and empathy for them.  Our book club would relish the Mudbound journey to continue in either a sequel or a movie.  We recommend "Mudbound," to other avid readers!
