The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, Milwaukee's Boswell Book Company, and Oconomowoc's Books & Company present a very special afternoon with Paula McLain, the bestselling author of The Paris Wife. McLain returns to the subject of Ernest Hemingway in Love and Ruin, a novel about Hemingway's passionate, stormy marriage to Martha Gellhorn, the fiercely independent, ambitious young woman who would become one of the greatest war correspondents of the twentieth century.

Tickets are $32.00 and include admission to the event, all taxes and fees, and a copy of Love and Ruin.

Books & Company booksellers have been reading McLain's new novel and have been thoroughly enjoying it.

Ken says "In her latest novel Paula McLain follows the life of war correspondent and novelist Martha Gellhorn and her relationship with Ernest Hemingway.  McLain has such a knack for bringing history to life.  I think many of us will agree that Hemingway was kind of a cad. McLain shows that side of Hemingway, as well as the charm that made so many ladies fall for him. Gellhorn was involved in the Spanish Civil War, The Finnish Winter War, Word War II and the War of Personalities with Mr. Hemingway.  Through it all McLain's prose keeps us totally involved in this extraordinary woman."

Katrina says "Before she was the third Mrs. Hemingway, Martha Gellhorn was a strong, independent woman who, instead of writing the articles magazines expected a woman to write, went to Spain to report on the war. There she runs into Ernest Hemingway, an extravagant personality that cannot be outshone. At first he's just a mentor, then she finds herself falling in love with him whether she wants to or not. After they are married, Martha tries to stay true to herself and her writing while being the wife of one of the biggest names in literary history. Paula McLain brings to light the life of this amazing woman who dared to follow her dreams and became one of the greatest war correspondents of the twentieth century. An excellent novel that is sure to be a favorite of book groups and lovers of historical fiction."
